The Radiator Centre has launched their ‘Cats Love Radiators’ competition to find the cutest photo that illustrates your cat’s devotion to your heating.
It’s a well-known fact that cats love radiators. But why does a creature that has its fur coat feel the need to snuggle up to something so hot?
Firstly, the cat’s normal body temperature is higher than humans – an average of 101.5 or 102 degrees. So temperatures that are too hot for us are probably just right for them, which is why they can lie next to, or even on, radiators for so long without overheating.
Secondly, a third of the energy produced by a cat is used to maintain their skin and fur, meaning they need to conserve energy whenever they can (which is why they sleep so much!). They are therefore keen to seek out any external source of heat, making radiators very desirable places for a catnap.
To celebrate this great love affair, The Radiator Centre is launching a photo competition on 14 February. All you have to do is share a photo of your cat enjoying the cosiness of a radiator on The Radiator Centre’s Facebook or Twitter accounts. The two best photos that are posted before midday on 28 February will win a Radiator Cat Bed – and your cat’s life will be even more cosier!
All you have to do to enter is take a lovely photo of your cat snuggling up to the radiator – make sure the cat and the radiator are in the same shot! Then either:

Follow us on Twitter @Radiator_Centre, then tweet your photo to us
The competition is open for entries between 14 February and midday on 28 February, and the best photos on both Facebook Twitter will each win a prize.

The ‘Cats Love Radiators’ competition runs from 14-28 February 2017, closing at 12:00 noon on 28 February.
Entry is free and you can enter as many times as you like.
All photos will be moderated before going up.
The judges’ decision is final.
One prize will be given to the best photo on Twitter; the other prize will be given to the best photo on Facebook.
The prize is a Radiator Cat Bed. There is no cash alternative.
